I am wanting to know what steps I need to follow to become an engineering professional. For example, what books I need to get, what I need to do, etc. I am already finishing college for engineering, but I do not know if I will ever find a job. I already have civil/surveying/environmental covered, but what about electrical/computer/chemical/mechanical/... and biological engineering. I am wanting to choose a set of niches that I can pursue a career with from civil and one or more of these fields. Any tips for how to become an entrepreneur in these fields?
What does it take to get into the engineering field (specifically the other non-civil fields)?
Engineering cannot be learned through home schooling or reading books by yourself. It is a combination lab/practical training seminars etc. If you have done engg. in wrong major or womething you don't like I would suggest enroll in the same university for 3 year course in another, check with your college if they offer this.
