What can be done to boost the morale of our armed forces...?

A new survey taken by the MoD shows that almost half of our soldiers are ready to quit. What can be done to boost their morale and make life in the Armed Forces an attractive career option?

What can be done to boost the morale of our armed forces...?
There are lots of ways in which we can boost the morale of our armed forces - especially those serving us in Afghanistan and Iraq.

One thing we need to do right away is put in place a bridge between the armed services, the Royal British Legion and employers in civvie street.

Let's do some joined up thinking and give our retiring service personnel at least four months before de-mob to sort out what they're gonna do in civvie street.

Look at it like this. If the armed forces can recruit in schools, why can't businesses recruit at a central military point somewhere, of guys and gals coming out back home to dear old Blighty?

Do it here in the UK and give it some status, plus top brass and royals involved etc.

Why is there not more fuss made of regiments returning home?

Fine, their home town get to hear about it, but what about the rest of us?

It ought to be a National Event - so we can all make a point to try and be there when they come down the high street, heads held high to the cheering and thunder of the packed crowds. Welcome Home Heroes.

In addition to all of the above, more of us can get involved in writing letters to squaddies out there on the front line and the occasional parcel or three.
Reply:my morale as a soldier is also quite down, I am so ready to get out u have no idea....

im tired of the bullshit deployments to war, it's more like abusing u just because they have a contract with u..... tired of being away from family and friends

tired of putting my life on hold because of it

I am tired of this damn war.... how about they let us go home once and for all so we can have a damn break?

it's too damn much, honestly i am sick of it.
Reply:bring them home to defend their country. the wars they are involved in are pointless unwinnable slaughters. the first thing they should do is form a decent firing squad ready for the labour party leaving Blair in the hands of the Iraqis for trial.
Reply:give them decent rewards (not nes.. wages, but decent homes, family life)

to respect them

to tell the solider haters to shut up and bugger off

to give them back nhs support, mental health support and better pensions?????
Reply:End the "war".

Career option? At this point, its a lack of a better option.
Reply:To have rallies that actually support the cause, not hate it. It would make them have a better self concience.
Reply:tell them they can forget about Iraqi freedom, and that if they bring home the oil they can be rich.
Reply:Make the military a "job" that one can be proud of.
Reply:you? nothing. Enter politics, influence public policy...
Reply:Some hoodies in their midst, lol
Reply:more money and more time off
Reply:Free porn and booze.
