Manga %26amp; anime to me: Simply the best!

The difference between the two: My understanding is that Manga is Japanese comic books and anime is this artistry translated into Japanese animation, hence the word "anime". LOL!

Do I buy Manga? No.

Do I buy anime? Here and there, but not in a long while. I have borrowed some from some of my guy friends who frreak out that I even like anime!

Do I think it's popular? Why or why not? There's a hint of realism to it. The action, violence, and all emotional overtones are surrealistic, I believe, which is what makes it popular. Also, the themes are almost always on an adult, mature level, but it taps into the sensibilities that attract youth so I think that's why the popularity is HUGE! Gray-haired people watch anime!

As far as prefrence between Manga and Marvel comics (American comics), I love both in all honesty. I guess I see Marvel comics as "classic".

I think Manga targets the whole planet up to a baby that was born 2 seconds ago, to be honest with you!

Manga sources: I think artists learn a particular genre two ways: to mimic what they see or to read up on specific techniques within that genre. (I listed a couple of links below.)

I haven't been focused on Manga and anime lately, so I can't recall the last time I saw anything advertised. (Sorry, but being honest.)

Career opps? (Sure! The popularity is too great for there not to be!)

The genre that appeals to me most? Anime. If I want to read a comic, I lean on Marvel. LOL

I prefer action because I think as a little girl, I wanted so bad to be a superhero and kick butt! (Wonder Woman was cheesy, but yeah, I wanted to be her...until I discovered X-men and Storm. Storm's so powerful, and really intense emotionally and intellectually. That's on a whole different level to me!)

Plus, I write fiction, and I don't think writers on comic book staffs are given enough credit about THEIR artistry! I learn a lot from them, even now!

What is Manga and anime to you? manga - the book of japanese animation

anime- the japanese aniamtion series on television

Which do you prefer more? anime

Can you name any famous people related to Manga? truthfully no except jun matsumoto because of his show Gokusen that was based on the Gokusen anime

Do you buy Manga? How often would you buy it? only once a few years ago and I realized how expense it was

Do you buy Anime? How often do you buy it? I bought DBZ, Inuyasha, and realized how expensive it was

Do you think it is popular? Why/why not? yes because where I live, there are a lot of asians. People are exposed to mangas/animes because of the story lines and artistic creations. It's also high in demand.

Where would you go to buy Manga and Anime? Sunset Coast and BN

What characteristics are the most noticable of the genre to you? action/ simple love stories

Do you prefer

Manga, marvel American comics., both

Which age group do you think Manga targets? Why? I don't think there is a specific age group really targeted. I think a lot of age groups are just attracted to Manga because it is glorified as this creative story

Do you think there are enough sources available for people aspiring to be manga artists? If yes, what?

Sort of. You can go buy books, but there are no classes so How do you know if you're good?

Do you see manga and anime advertised? Where?

Only at Comic Con

Do you think there are career opportunities in this industry?

You could become a lawyer for Tokyopop, a graphic design artist, production opportunities, accountant. I think one could also become a part of the Manga industries' team and develop advertising techniques to attract buyers or become a seller. I believe opportunities are available. To be a artist, now thats hard because there are a lot of talented people out there.

Which genre appeals to you most?

comedy

I do not like drama series. They piss me off because I become emotionally involved.
