A question for those of you who think career women are "too masculine". What do you think about research?

findings that suggest your stereotype of professional women is totally WRONG?

"women want a corporate environment that recognises that their strengths and skills are different from male colleagues but equally intrinsic to the organisation's success.

Rather than a brash, aggressive culture they are attracted to a "cultured" environment and companies that embrace men and women as equal but different in the boardroom, the survey suggests.

Such companies need to be highly sophisticated in their training and development of staff, positively reward effort and achievement and place a value on communication, team building and relationships.

But many women polled said they feel firms often only pay lip service to equality and diversity - despite having high-profile employment policies in place - and they would rather leave than accept the status quo."

'Women view 'corporate game' with disdain'

A question for those of you who think career women are "too masculine". What do you think about research?
Of course they don't like competition, because it is a losing proposition for woman. When a woman competes like a man, she is viewed with disdain, often by men and woman alike. We are taught to be nice and kind and helpful, anything outside of this paradigm does not fit with peoples expectations and as a result the nail that sticks out gets hammered down.
Reply:Yeah, but doesn't competition encourage both men and women to do better?

*In a large corporation would it be a good idea then to have two teams competing against each other on a project. That way you can have team work and the advantages of competition to benefit the company.
Reply:I don't think women are too masculine, but neither do I think a cultured atmosphere is particularly feminine - and who really likes a brash, aggressive atmosphere? I think all offices are moving away from that, blokes included :-)
Reply:I'm not giving an opinion either way but that survey included only 650 people. It's meaningless. It was even carried out by a group called Eve-olution.

How serious would you take it if I posted a survey that polled 650 men by a group called Man-agement ?
Reply:I agree, I prefer cooperation. I think competition can bring out the "b*tch" in a lot of people, especially in sales environments.
Reply:Interesting and supports other existing research in this area.

Thanks for posting this, hopefully you'll get a good audience for it!

Cheers :-)
Reply:Really? How many women have left the corporate world? Far from half that are in it, that is for sure. There can't be THAT many women that are THAT upset....
Reply:the only women that i think are too masculine are the ones that are body builders and take roids, they look like men, well most of them
Reply:They key word was "they Feel" I am sure they will always "feel" like there being mistreated.

An for DMG there another saying "the squeaky wheel gets the oil" a true fem idealism.
Reply:I like having my own money, that I don't have to beg a man for. If people think that is masculine they can go to hell.
Reply:the truth is women compete with men in all fields including sports so the research was biased
Reply:Look, I don't know what the world sees wrong about women working and making a living. I don't need a man....heck a man probably needs me.
Reply:Marie Curie=hot babe.
Reply:WTHECK?
