Im about to nuts!!! I have had so many interviews and for somereason there's something im not doing right, in my opinion the interviews go really well, but i just never hear from the employer!! I work in a mortgage company and we are about to get into tax season which means overtime and includes working holidays, well i just had a baby and i would really like to spend her first holidays with her, you know???
I have experience in clerical/data entry type field.
any suggestions?
I would love to go into a medical field, i recently had an interview with a hospital but didnt get the job, i did really well on the spelling typing and customer survey which is all they tested for, so i dont know what went wrong???

It's a bummer when they don't call you back...I know..
You on the other hand could do something to keep in contact with these people that have interviewed you....
After the interview...send a letter or card thanking the person for giving you an interview...say something like this:
I would like to express my sincere thanks to you for giving me the opportunity to sit and talk with you about the position...(whatever it was)...
I am looking forward to hearing from you in the near future and will continue to educate and sharpen my skills that pertain to the job...(whatever it was)...
Something like that...
By doing this...you let these perspective employers know that you for one, appreciate their time they took to interview you...and by you taking the time to actually send a thank you note...it shows that you are a person that follows through, and that you are interested in the job..It's a little token of appreciation and maybe to someone it will stick out in their mind and they will call you back..
There's a lot of competition out there...remember that...and it's harder these days to get a job, than it used to be...
Whatever your skills are, continue to educate yourself in this area...
Go to the library and pick up some books on interviewing and resume writing...Learning to use the correct power words, and adjectives will help you...
Learning some of the tools to help you with interviews will also do nothing but help you...it can't hurt right?

Reply:Maybe you could call some of the places where you interviewed and see if anyone would be willing to give you an honest answer about why you didn't get the job. Tell them that you are trying to improve your interview skills and would really appreciate any insight they could give you. Maybe it's something you're doing or saying unintentionally.
Did you--
-bring a resume (without errors)/references/pen with you?
-dress professionally?
-listen more than talk?
-show up on time?
-send a thank you note for the interview?
-not mention that you really wanted more time off to spend with your family? (sorry, but that could count against you)
Also check into your references---someone you think is giving you a good reference might not be.
Sometimes it's just a matter of time until you get the right fit--good luck!
Reply:Try large medical offices they usually need relaible people. Alos look towards state jobs, pay is okay but your hours would be great and no weekends or overtime, great when you have kids. Even county government they should have jobs listed online.

My neighbor does it %26amp; she does pretty well wrkg 4 hrs a day.
(10-25$ hr) Initially, you'll need to visit Dr office to introduce yourself, hand out flyers etc.. but then you should be able to easily upload work from home. You'll need to take a crash course in cpt codes %26amp; online schools offer all sorts of quick "certificate" programs. You'ld be self employed %26amp; would have to pay for your own health insurance etc so thats

Pretend that you graduated college. You married someone and now you have children. Would you give-up your career just to be with your family at home and why? Kindly input your age also. TY in advance!!!

I'm 23. I did the whole marriage and family thing first. I just graduated from college on December 21st.
Reply:I am 25, 26 on the 27th of this month. I think if you can afford to stay home, and want to, then go for it. If you really want to keep working, then do that. Don't feel pressured to drop out of the workforce just because you have children now. You will end up feeling resentful towards hubby or your babies if you do. If you are on the fence, you can always do like I did and work part-time. I get enough time away from home so I can still feel like an adult, but yet I get in tons of time with the little ones every week.

Now, I want to get married and have kids and settle down... And I am also ready for the committemtn work and sacrifice this takes. I want to stay at home 'till my kids are in school. Children are a gift and once they are grown I know I would regret not being there for them. Work will be there later the most significant part of their childhoood, the part that shapes the adult they become will not.

I personally believe in the world today and all the materialism that goes on- that working duel parents does not help out other then to keep up with the jones's. i carried those boys for 9 months it's my right to be there and is expected to see the first steps, get them through the first tooth. I am the person to potty train and teach the reading and writting of the abc's. my sis in law has 2 boys as well. Hubby makes more then enough to get them by and then some- went back to work 2 weeks after each birth-and had no shame when we saw the one son take his steps in front of us asking oh when did he start walking her reply- i;m not sure- the sitter said it was some time last week., they are gone from 8 am to 6 pm and the kids go tobed at 8pm- they eat dinner and bathe them and they go to bed. I don't think thats healthy. both kids are tv junkies and bratty to say the least. at 4 and 3 the minute either walks out of the room they scream they see them so little that leaving a room to pee makes the kids think they are going to work again. I should be the one doing the homework after school and getting involved with the sports,scouts, etc. I can tell you that if you have to work to support the family thats one thing but in the very young tender and forming years it's better to stay home and raise your kids. you have your whole life to work you only have 18 years to be a parent.(so to speak)
good luck- it's a tough decision i know- for me staying home was the right ultimately it's yours hope you make the right one.

I bake, volunteer at the school and do a lot with them. Being self employed, I schedule everything around my children. They are my number one priority, but I do well with my business too. After college I plan on pursuing my career, and when I'm about 28 have kids. If for some reason I had a kid earlier I would definately give up my career to be at home and raise my child. I would hope that my finance would change his schedule around to be at home more too.

There are so many other reasons on both sides but it is my personal goal to install in my children that you can have a loving family and good career, however-
Depending on your career- I dont think giving it up would be advantagous even though it may be ideal.
The reasons for this is because;
1. cost of living has increased so much that it is difficult to be a one income family
2. cost of college for your children has gone up and increases year by year
3. Having your children see 2 parents working for a good life increases their chances (along with good parenting)to have a good work ethic
4. Depending on your career when you do decide to go back to it you may have lost important skills
5. The socialization adults get in a work environment (equal to school for kids) is incredibly important
In either case you have to weigh the options carefully because being a at home mom/dad is a full time job and a lot of hard work.
Reply:In those days people have 10 or more kids and who takes care of them. Their mums. How did they turn out...which generation are they. Ours, so how did we turn out...comparing to todays children. We need to look after our own kids so that they will follow in our foot steps and be better children. Why you need to look after them because children remembers and they will look after you when you're old. If you used a maid, then when you're old they get a maid for you too.

Survey: Are you content?
I am content with myself because there is no one else I would rather be and I appreciate my gifts and that I am unique. I do however have some things that I do not like about myself just as much as the next person. These things are not things I would want to change to please anyone else, but I would change them to please myself. But generally speaking, I am content with who I am, just not with some of my worst faults, which are not who I am. I am content with my family, though there is one of those divorce situations with kids involved in play that I wish were different, but my family themselves, I wouldn't change any of them, just my exe's attitude. I am a housewife that pretty much does what I please aside of caring for my kids and pets so I am content on the career note completely. I dabble in things I like as I feel and that is the way I like it. Currently I am writing a book and who knows, maybe it will get published one day (if I ever manage to finish it) and if I am extroadinarily lucky it will be used as the basis for a movie, I could live with that, or without it. If I am proud of it, that alone will make me happy. (I'd be a liar if I denied that the money would make me happy too) There are circumstance in mine and my family's life that I would like adjusted or changed, and I think I wouldn't be human if not. No one has a perfect life down to the T. It is also human nature to want what you don't have and even to want it just because you don't have it. I mean lets face it, most everyone wants and/or needs more money. (except maybe oprah) But if having enough money was taken out of the equation of whether or not one is content, I'd say I am about as content as I will probably ever get being human.

Reply:I'm unhappy with my job. I really need to increase my income and it would be nice to get a few other benefits as well (decent health insurance, 401k). Plus I don't care for my boss and while I enjoy the physical nature of my work it's definitely taken a toll on my body and it may be a good idea for me to get into something else (even though desk jobs make me anxious, at least I'll still be able to walk when I retire).
Other than that I am pretty content. My family is in good health and my relationships with them are in pretty good shape, most of them anyways. I'm getting married in 6 months to the best thing that ever happened to me and couldn't be any more content with that decision. Just need a good job to complete things and I'll be in good shape.

Survey: Are you content?
I am content with myself because there is no one else I would rather be and I appreciate my gifts and that I am unique. I do however have some things that I do not like about myself just as much as the next person. These things are not things I would want to change to please anyone else, but I would change them to please myself. But generally speaking, I am content with who I am, just not with some of my worst faults, which are not who I am. I am content with my family, though there is one of those divorce situations with kids involved in play that I wish were different, but my family themselves, I wouldn't change any of them, just my exe's attitude. I am a housewife that pretty much does what I please aside of caring for my kids and pets so I am content on the career note completely. I dabble in things I like as I feel and that is the way I like it. Currently I am writing a book and who knows, maybe it will get published one day (if I ever manage to finish it) and if I am extroadinarily lucky it will be used as the basis for a movie, I could live with that, or without it. If I am proud of it, that alone will make me happy. (I'd be a liar if I denied that the money would make me happy too) There are circumstance in mine and my family's life that I would like adjusted or changed, and I think I wouldn't be human if not. No one has a perfect life down to the T. It is also human nature to want what you don't have and even to want it just because you don't have it. I mean lets face it, most everyone wants and/or needs more money. (except maybe oprah) But if having enough money was taken out of the equation of whether or not one is content, I'd say I am about as content as I will probably ever get being human.
