A monolithic dome is a one-piece, artificial rock that looks like an upside-down bowl. Monolithic dome homes can withstand huge amounts of pressure which makes them almost indestructible to the forces of nature. Tornadoes, hurricanes, fires, and even earthquakes are not enough to shake the structurally sound construction of a monolithic dome. Termites are also not a threat since they are not made of wood. Another advantage is the reduction of allergens and asthma problems along with less mold. They are much more energy efficient than conventional homes where the average electrical bill can be as little as half. Although constructing a monolithic dome home is a little more expensive, the overall cost is about the same as a traditional home. Dome homes are environmental friendly using half the materials and have many advantages over traditional homes.*
